ANALYSIS OF FACTORS INFLUENCING STUDENTS CONSUMPTIVE BEHAVIOR IN STKIP NASIONAL

Abstract


This study examines the influence of economic literacy (X1), pocket money (X2), lifestyle (X3), consumer taste (X4), and peers (X5) on the consumptive behavior of STKIP Nasional students. A total sampling technique was applied, involving 399 students (45% of the total population). Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing. The findings indicate that economic literacy, pocket money, lifestyle, consumer taste, and peers each have a significant partial effect on students’ consumptive behavior. Lifestyle shows the strongest influence, followed by economic literacy, consumer taste, pocket money, and peers. Simultaneously, all five variables have a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, with an F-count value of 34.44 exceeding the F-table value of 2.24. The coefficient of determination reveals that 62.8% of students’ consumptive behavior is explained by these variables, while 38.2% is influenced by other factors not included in this study. In conclusion, economic literacy, pocket money, lifestyle, consumer taste, and peers are key determinants of students’ consumptive behavior. This study provides important insights for students and the wider community in promoting more controlled and rational consumption practices
