TAHAP KESEDARAN KESIHATAN MENTAL DALAM KALANGAN PELAJAR DI INSTITUT PENGAJIAN TINGGI

Abstract


Kesihatan mental merupakan isu yang sering diperkatakan kini dan perlu diberi perhatian terutama dalam kalangan pelajar. Ini kerana, isu ini boleh memberi impak yang besar dari segi kesejahteraan mental dan fizikal mereka. Malahan ia boleh mendorong ke arah kemurungan dan tindakan yang membahayakan diri seperti membunuh diri. Justeru pelajar seharusnya mempunyai kesedaran terhadap tahap kesihatan mental agar perkara yang tidak diingini dapat dibendung. Kajian ini bertujuan membincangkan tahap kesedaran pelajar di Universiti Islam Selangor dan Universiti Melaka tentang kesihatan mental mereka. Dengan menggunakan kaedah soal-selidik ke atas 320 orang responden, kajian ini menganalisis tahap kesedaran pelajar tentang kesihatan mental yang mereka tahu atau alami. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa kebanyakan pelajar yang sedar tentang kesihatan mental memerlukan seseorang untuk berkongsi masalah. Kajian juga mendapati bahawa terdapat stigma yang tinggi terhadap pesakit mental. Disebabkan itu isu tentang kesihatan mental perlu dikomunikasikan kepada semua pihak bagi memberi kesedaran tentang kesihatan mental yang di alami oleh para pelajar. Selain itu, komunikasi interpersonal turut membantu dalam menyampaikan mesej berkaitan kesihatan mental. Rumusan kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa perlu ada pendedahan maklumat tentang kesihatan mental kepada para pelajar untuk membantu pesakit mental dalam kalangan mereka.
