FAKTOR-FAKTOR PENYEBAB NEEDLE STICKS INJURY DIKALANGAN PEKERJA KESIHATAN
Abstract
Needlestick Injury (NSI) adalah kecederaan yang membahayakan kesihatan pekerja seperti doktor dan jururawat. Pekerja kesihatan berisiko tinggi untuk mendapat jangkitan yang terdedah kepada patogen seperti Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C dan HIV yang disebabkan oleh tusukan jarum atau alatan tajam yang tercemar. Kejadian ini boleh menyebabkan impak besar kepada keselamatan dan kesihatan dikalangan pekerja kesihatan. Hasil kajian mendapati sebilangan besar kes NSI berlaku di kalangan pekerja kesihatan dari wad perubatan. Peralatan pelindungan keselamatan telah dilaporkan sebagai faktor penting yang berkaitan dengan NSI. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menilai faktor-faktor yang berkaitan dengan NSI di kalangan pekerja kesihatan. Antaranya adalah pengalaman bekerja, jangkamasa waktu kerja, pengurusan dan persekitaran wad, peralatan pelindungan keselamatan (safety equipment), pengetahuan, kategori pekerjaan dan gender yang menyumbang kepada terjadinya NSI di kalangan pekerja kesihatan.
